I am the son of two Dominican immigrants that arrived in what Dominicans call America and what Americans call New York. I was born in Manhattan, New York, lived in The Bronx, New York and raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
My affinity for sports started back in 2000 when I watched my favorite baseball player of all-time Mike Piazza step into the batter’s box of Shea Stadium against the Atlanta Braves and smacked a line drive home run to left field to cap a 10 run eighth inning. My affinity for journalism started when a guy by the name of Stuart Scott graced the television screen. Scott spoke like a guy from my neighborhood, looked like people in my neighborhood and from then on was like my superhero.
